Narration To Books Born in Death (In Death #23)

Eve Dallas has a grisly double homicide to solve when two young lovers—both employees of the same prestigious accounting firm—are brutally killed on the same night. It doesn't leave Eve a lot of leftover time to put together a baby shower for her buddy Mavis, but that's supposedly what friends are for.

Now Mavis needs another favor. Tandy Willowby, one of the moms-to-be in Mavis's birthing class, didn't show up for the shower. A recent emigrant from London, Tandy has few friends in New York, and no family—and she was really looking forward to the party. And when Eve enters Tandy's apartment and finds a gift for Mavis's shower wrapped and ready on the table—and a packed bag for the hospital still on the floor next to it—tingling runs up and down her spine.

Normally, such a case would be turned over to Missing Persons. But Mavis wants no one else on the job but Eve—and Eve can't say no. She'll have to track Tandy down while simultaneously unearthing the deals and double-crosses hidden in the files of some of the city's richest and most secretive citizens, in a race against this particularly vicious killer. Luckily, her multimillionaire husband Roarke's expertise comes in handy with the number crunching. But as he mines the crucial data that will break the case wide open, Eve faces an all too real danger in the world of flesh and blood.

Lt. Eve Dallas is called on to look into the murder of Natalie Cooperfield and her fiancé Bick Byson. Both of them worked at a well-known accounting firm. As Eve delves into the murders, her friend Mavis asks her to find a missing person. Tandy Willowby has vanished without a trace. Mavis knows her from their birthing classes. Tandy is due any day, but nobody has seen her since she left work two days ago. Now Eve, Roarke, Peabody, and McNab are hard at work on both cases. This is the 23rd book in

3.5 Stars. This was another one of the audio-cds I got really cheap from a library sale. I only listened to this in the car so it took forever but after driving for almost 3 hours today I finally finished it. I have to admit Im a little surprised this is my first Nora Roberts book. Even though I read almost exclusively LGBTQ fiction right now, I used to read a ton of mainstream books. I found that I liked this and thought it was a good mystery book. I also enjoyed that it is slightly futuristic

Third Read: Technology has advanced in 2060 New York City, but childbirth has been the same since the beginning of time. And despite the brutal double homicide homicide on Lieutenant Eve Dallas' Caseload she has to be there for her pregnant and best friend, Mavis, even if it means throwing the dreaded baby shower. But Mavis needs an even bigger favor now. Tandy Willowby, one of the moms-to-be in her class, has gone missing, just days before her due date--not even showing up at the shower at Eve

5 Stars! By far the most amusing read in the series. This ragtag crew has endured the worst human nature can dish out, murders, kidnapping, mutilation...horrific things, and it barely even fazes them, but a baby coming into the world turns them inside out. Just the mere thought or mention of what the body has to endure during a pregnancy and birth has them cringing in fear and disgust. I was in stitches for a good part of the book, but the last hour I was howling with laughter. I thought Roarke

Spoilers ahead, 3.5*What started off as a brutal double murder turns personal as Mavis' friend disappears and she asks Dallas to find her. Powerful and corrupt individuals perpetrated horrific crimes against expectant mothers but thankfully Eve was able to save TandyThe scenes with Mavis, Peabody and the births made this book for me. I've wanted a hea for Eve and Roarke hopefully with babies but their reaction to the birth of Bella has me despairing. Nevertheless this remains one of my favorite

Suspense 4.5 stars / Romance 4.5 starsAs always interesting and captivating. The story got an unexpected turn. Loved Eve's strength. Thanks God they saved the last victim. Romance. It was good except for their 'fight'. Did I tell that I admire Eve? *lol* She is a very wise woman. Hard, yes, unapologetic, yes, but extremely devoted and just amazing! I get that Roarke and Eve are not fond of kids, but it was a bit ott.Bella Eve, welcome to the family! 👪Nevertheless and despite everything, Eve is a
