Representaion As Books Max
"19 avril 1936.

I just couldn't get into this. I think the narrating baby is what I can't deal with--he's obnoxious and, in case you missed it, he's a baby. I don't understand babies when they can't talk, let alone this one that only talks about Hitler and breastfeeding. I'm sure it's good, as it won a ton of awards, but it was just too dry for me and really weird. This is a story that needs to be told. The Lebensborn program, where the Nazis literally bred people with superior Aryan characteristics in order to create a master race, is not something that you hear a lot about. At least, not in fiction, and certainly not in fiction presented to teens. So when I heard about this book, a book narrated by a Lebensborn beginning at his birth, I thought, Finally. This will be a striking, important book! What would it be like to be raised, from birth, on a diet of

"...I really miss it. Since I've been born, I've done nothing but obey orders, and now there's no one to tell me what to do."What a difficult book to rate. This is the sort of book that is difficult to put down, but when you do , it leaves you feeling emotionally exhausted. The author has used a very unique voice in her story, not only that of a child in the midst of war, and not only a Nazi child, but one which is totally immersed in the regime even from before their birth, and is commited to
Overall, this is a detailed and researched insight into the lebensborn programme, a Nazi enterprise that sought to breed racially pure children to be the leaders of the third reich. The story is narrated my the first child of this programme, from before his birth until he is 10 and the Second World War has ended. I found it exhausting but important. It was not unbearably gruesome but, despite the narrator seeing and supporting the horrific events of the SS (in particular), it did not at all
Lebensborn was a Nazi program launched in 1933 with the ambitious goal of breeding perfect, racially pure Aryan Übermenschen who could populate the newly conquered territories of German Lebensraum in the East. The programs main ideologist and promoter was Heinrich Himmler, one of the sickest mind, in the face of a stiff competition, within the Nazi leadership. Lebensborn was organized and administered with meticulous precision as if it was an engineering project with a few technical challenges
The ending was a lot stronger than early in the book. Was ready to abandon it with the unnecessary swearing and description.
